VGM EEC will require all attendees to confirm that they are not displaying symptoms of COVID-19 and have not recently been exposed to anyone who tested positive. If they do have symptoms or have been exposed, they are not allowed to attend. We will be following all state and local guidelines of Marco Island, FL, which can be found here.

Tuesday, December 7

Day 1

Start your day with our attendee and spouse breakfast, followed by a full morning and half afternoon of educational sessions focused on professional communication, managing your brand, and telehealth. The evening will include an off-site dinner and networking.  

Wednesday, December 8

Day 2

Day 2 will feature presentations on a patient's digital journey, new revenue opportunities, and a leadership panel. Speakers will cover best practices, what you need to know, and next steps. In the afternoon, we will break from sessions to enjoy the outdoors while networking with your peers.

Greg Dardis

Greg Dardis
President & CEO

Following a desire to help professionals become stronger leaders and communicators, Greg Dardis founded Dardis Communications in 2002.

Greg works with many well-known organizations such as Deere & Company, the NCAA, Pioneer, and Rockwell Collins. He coaches executive boards, C-suite leaders, board presidents, politicians, celebrities, and professional athletes. A featured speaker for international organizations and conferences, his work often takes him to places such as China, India, Russia, South America, Australia, and Europe.

Greg enjoys working with nonprofit organizations. He serves on boards for Junior Achievement and the Iowa City baseball league. He lives in Coralville, Iowa, with his wife Tonya and their four children.

Joel Gallion

Joel Gallion 
President, Bellevue Healthcare 

Joel has been with Bellevue Healthcare for 18 years, beginning as a delivery technician and since 2016 has led the company as president. In this role, Joel helps to oversee the vision, leadership development, and strategic growth of the organization. Bellevue Healthcare is a full-service provider of medical equipment including complex rehab, respiratory and sleep, hospice, retail, and home accessibility. Based in the Pacific Northwest, BHC has 18 locations across Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. Joel holds a B.A. from Westmont College and an M.B.A. from the University of Washington, and lives near Bellevue with his wife, Erin and four children. 

John

John Cassar
CEO, SuperCare Health

John has 25 years of industry experience with SuperCare Health, has been CEO since 2008, and also serves as SuperCare Health’s chairman and majority shareholder. In his current role, John is responsible for SuperCare Health’s overall strategic direction, vision, planning, budgeting, and resource development. John is also known as an industry visionary, having led SuperCare Health’s transition from a local retail respiratory pharmacy into the premier respiratory care management multi-state provider based in California. Today, SuperCare Health is now a JCAHO accredited organization with over 27 locations and 700 employees.
 

Jason Shiflett
Home Medical Products

Jason has 30 years of experience in the DME industry and is currently one of three owners of two companies, Home Medical Products and Doc Supply. He serves as president and CEO of both entities. His primary function at HMP is to create new revenue streams and oversee the strategic growth of the company. The core of HMP’s business is respiratory patient management through connected technologies. HMP is based in Tennessee and has 15
locations in four states with 150 employees. Prior to HMP Jason started and sold two small DME companies and most recently was the CEO for Med-South in Alabama from 2013-2018

James Russell

Vice President/Owner, URS Medical

James co‐created URS Medical as a startup operation—today, it is a $17 million HME company. He has 16 years’ experience in HME as an owner/operator. James has also collaborated with other HME providers to develop the current Texas Medicaid fee schedule, helping to meet the needs of state budget constraints while achieving sustainable cuts for the HME community. He is a member of the AAHomecare board and executive committee, member of AAHomecare’s payer relations council, as well as an advisory board member for Baylor Scott & White Health and the Texas Health and Human Services HME committee.

Patty Mastandrea

Patty Mastandrea is CEO of MedCare Equipment Co., LLC, headquartered in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, which now operates seven distribution centers and produces an annual revenue of $83 million. She previously served as MedCare’s COO for 15 years and has more than 30 years of experience in healthcare. Under Patty’s leadership, MedCare achieved accreditation by The Compliance Team as an Exemplary Provider and received a HME Excellence Award in 2015. In 2020, Patty received the HME Woman of the Year Award, honoring the significant contributions she has made to her company, community, and the HME industry throughout her career. She is active on several industry advisory boards, as well as her local chamber of commerce.

Nupura Kolwalkar

Chief Product Officer, Brightree 

Nupura Kolwalkar-Rana has extensive leadership in developing technologies (products and solutions) that lead to positive health outcomes. She has held several executive leadership positions across Mana Health, MSD, McKesson, NextGen, and CIOX with a focus on product strategy, new market penetration and data commercialization. Nupura believes that the key to patient adherence in the post-acute care setting is seamless coordination across all care giving entities of that patient. At Brightree, Nupura focuses on putting product vision and patient experience front and center so that customers can deliver the best out of hospital care to their patients.

Mark Schmeler

Vice Chair for Education & Training and Associate Professor, University of Pittsburgh

Mark Schmeler oversees all aspects of the Master of Science curriculum in rehabilitation technology as well as continuing education in the field of assistive technology. He has 30 years of clinical experience and continues to practice as an occupational therapist and assistive technology professional.

Mike Mallaro

Mike Mallaro 
Chief Executive Officer, VGM Group, Inc. 

Mike Mallaro is VGM's chief executive officer. As CEO, Mike provides a strategic and financial perspective to decisions made at VGM. His day-to-day focus is working on projects to strategically position VGM for growth and success in the future. Mike has been with VGM since 2001 and served as the lead on development of the employee stock ownership plan (ESOP), which included transition to a 100 percent employee ownership in 2008. 

Greg Packer

Greg Packer 
President, U.S. Rehab 

Greg A. Packer is president of U.S. Rehab, VGM & Associates' alliance for high-tech rehab providers. His background, which includes sales management for Pride Mobility Products Corp. and Biocore Medical Technologies, Inc., provides him with an understanding of both the sales and product areas of rehabilitation technology. Additionally, he currently serves as vice president of NCART and has served three terms in the Kansas House of Representatives, so he is familiar with the regulatory and governmental issues facing the rehab/HME industries. A graduate of Iowa State University, Ames, he received his M.B.A. from Baker University, Baldwin City, Kansas.

Kyle Walker

MHA, ATP, VP of Rehabilitation Program Development, VGM Homelink 

In his current role, Kyle works with stakeholders to develop service offerings and partnerships for rehabilitative services. Prior to this, Kyle led the operations and development of the assistive technology team’s workers’ comp and commercial business lines. He joined VGM HOMELINK in 2018, coming from a practicing ATP with UnityPoint Health. Kyle holds his ATP certificate, bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from Iowa State University, and master’s degree in healthcare administration from Purdue University. Kyle is a RESNA member, as well as a board member of both the professional standards and development boards. Kyle volunteers his time by coaching youth sports, helping with adaptive sports, and is the solider family readiness leader for his wife’s U.S. Army National Guard unit.

Dan Fedor 
Director of Reimbursement and Education, U.S. Rehab 

Dan has been in the HME industry for over 26 years and currently serves as the director of reimbursement for U.S. Rehab a division of VGM. Dan joined VGM in 2014 and prior to that was the director of education for Pride Mobility for 13 years. Prior to joining Pride, Dan served as senior manager of provider outreach/education, EDI, and customer service for DME MAC A for six years. Dan is a graduate of Penn State where he earned a bachelor’s of science degree in economics. 

Craig Douglas

VP Payer and Member Relations, VGM Government

Craig Douglas, vice president of payer and member relations at VGM & Associates, has nearly two decades of experience working with payers and providers. In his current role, Craig assists in navigating payer relationships and addressing concerns that impact VGM’s membership. Prior to joining VGM & Associates, Douglas was vice president of provider relations of VGM HOMELINK. His responsibilities included provider onboarding, oversight of network adequacy for the payer partners and patients for whom care was coordinated, and building and fostering effective, goal-driven relationships with payers and providers.

Marty Michael

Marty Michael
Senior Director Professional Services Network, HealthPartners

Marty is the Senior Director of the Professional Services Network Management department at HealthPartners, Inc. Marty has an MS degree in Statistics from North Dakota State University. He has worked at HealthPartners for over 20 years in the Health Informatics and Network Management areas. During his time at HealthPartners, Marty has worked on the development and implementation of new payment models including cases rates, bundled payments, tiered plan designs, payment for outcomes, and total cost of care approaches.
